Rolls-Royce vient de dévoiler la 200EX, un « véhicule expérimental » qui préfigure de façon on ne peut plus fidèle la future « Baby Rolls », dont la production démarrera en 2010. Ce modèle quasi définitif sera exposé au salon de Genève.
Cette Rolls-Royce 200EX est assurément un beau « bébé » : avec 5,40 m de long, elle affiche 33 cm de plus qu'une BMW Série 7 ! En revanche, elle fait effectivement presque « frêle » aux côtés d'une Rolls Phantom Extended Wheelbase et son profil de teckel (6,08 m de longueur !).
La Rolls 200EX se veut une interprétation plus contemporaine et dynamique de l'esprit Rolls-Royce. D'où des lignes incomparablement plus fluides que le look massif revendiqué par la Phantom, et une planche de bord plus fine que le « bahut Louis XV » de la grande soeur. C'est l'équipe d'Ian Cameron qui a signé le look de la 200EX.
On accède à l'habitacle grâce à des portières antagonistes, comme sur la Phantom. Les occupants des places arrière restent quant à eux abrités derrière l'épais montant C, selon une tradition bien établie chez Rolls-Royce.
La Rolls-Royce 200EX sera bâtie sur la plate-forme de la nouvelle BMW Série 7, et adoptera un V12 remanié.

It is produced at Ferrari`s Carrozzeria Scaglietti plant, the former home of the car`s namesake coachbuilder in Modena, Italy. The design, especially the large side scallops and the headlights, pays homage to the custom 1954 Ferrari 375 MM that director Roberto Rossellini had commissioned for his wife, Ingrid Bergman.
